Shanghai Baosteel Metallurgical Construction Corporation (SBMCC) is a fully-owned subsidiary of the China Metallurgical Construction Group Corporation (MCC Group), a conglomerate under the direct administration of the central government. As a large state-owned enterprise that engages in diversified business activities particularly in the iron and steel service industry (like equipment inspection and overhaul, production support, external post assistance), SBMCC has been declared ISO 9001 compliant. It was awarded the ISO 9001 system of quality certification, the ISO9001 system of environment protection certification, and the ISO9001 system of career quality certification
With a registered capital of 60 million RMB, the company has a total asset of 669.63 million RMB and a net asset of 242.93 million RMB. It also owns over 500 construction machines, including a full range of advanced equipments such as slag cars imported from U.S. KRESS Company, remote control mechanical diggers, lifting equipments, metalworking machines, experimental installations, and various instruments and meters.
SBMCC has five major branch companies:

· Inspection and Overhaul Branch Company,
· Mechanical Revamp and Manufacture Branch Company,
· Metallurgical Slugs Research Center, and
· Recycled Metals Business Department.
The corporation also has many single proprietorship, controlled joint-operation, and joint investment subsidiaries like Industry Engineering Company, Baochun Steel Slug Industry Development Company, Baori Macromolecule Material Co., Ltd., Baojiuhe Refractory Co., Ltd., Jinhai Real Estate Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Electric Engineering Material Co, Ltd., and Baoxin Pipe Fittings Co., Ltd.
Established in the 1950s, the corporation has constructed many strategic steel production bases like Baosteel Complex of Shanghai, Ma’anshan Steel Works, Wuhan Iron & Steel Plant, and Panzhihua Iron & Steel Plant. These are widely recognized achievements in China’s metallurgical industry.
