On December 14, 2021, the Central Research Institute of Building and Construction (CRIBC) won the bidding of the construction project, i.e., containment leakage monitoring system (JMA) construction project for No.7 and No. 8 nuclear power units at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant in Jiangsu Province and the No.3 and No.4 units at the Xudabao Nuclear Power Plant in Liaoning Province.
Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant is one of the agreed projects among the package cooperation between China and Russia in the field of nuclear, as well as the greatest cooperative project on nuclear energy between the two countries up to now. Xudabao Nuclear Power Plant is the second nuclear power plant in the northeast part of China and the northernmost one in China, and it is also an important component of China-Russia cooperation. As one of the significant specialized safety facilities, the containment leakage monitoring system is the requisite safeguard for a nuclear power plant to maintain the integrity of the third barrier.
Winning the bid marks CRIBC's playing of its role as a platform and its significant breakthrough in one-stop business system exploration on the R&D, integration, purchase, installation, and technical service of sealing testing equipment.
