On March 12, the shield tunneling machine was successfully launched at the right line between Zhucun Station and Guoduxi Station in the work area I, section 3 of the first phase of the Xi'an Metro Line No. 15 project undertaken by CSMCC, marking that the project starts the shield tunneling stage.
The first phase of Xi'an Metro Line No. 15 starts from Xiliu in the west and ends at Hanjiawan in the east, with a total length of 19.15 kilometers, all of which are laid underground, including 13 stations, 1 new Xiliu depot, and 2 main substations. The construction content of the project includes Zhucun Station, Zhucun Station-Guoduxi Station section, Guoduxi Station, Guoduxi Station-Guodu Station section, Guodu Station, a total of 3 stations and 2 sections, with a total length of 2.8 kilometers.
The first metro shield tunneling machine, namely "Chenghe", of the project is an earth pressure balanced machine, with a total length of 84 meters, a total weight of about 450 tons, an installed power of 1,500 kilowatts, and an excavation diameter of 6.44 meters, which is suitable for the construction condition of loess strata in Xi'an and can effectively improve the construction efficiency. The total length of the shield section is 767.508 meters, and after the shield tunneling machine starts, it will steadily excavate along Zhucun Station-Guoduxi Station.
After the completion of the project, it will greatly shorten the spatial distance between the Xi'an Chang'an University Town and adjacent industrial parks/urban areas, which is of great significance for alleviating traffic congestion in the southern urban area of Xi'an and promoting the rapid development of science and technology innovation and education, and cultural tourism in the southern part of Xi'an.
